Inglis

Australia's Leading Bloodstock Auctioneers

William Inglis & Son (Inglis) conduct auctions of thoroughbred racing and breeding stock in Sydney, Melbourne and Scone.

Inglis was established in 1867 and is Australia's most trusted bloodstock auctioneers.

Inglis’ respected reputation as the southern hemisphere’s pre-eminent thoroughbred auction house is intertwined with that of the horses the company sells and the professional manner in which the company conducts itself; a century of turf legends and patronage by the nation’s leading owners, trainer and agents has ensured that Inglis is the first name in Australian bloodstock.

For over a century Inglis has sold many of Australia’s most famous racehorses, including countless champions and winners of The Melbourne Cup, Golden Slipper, Cox Plate as well as Derby and Oaks winners. Inglis is proud to have sold six Australian Racing Hall Of Fame inductees; Heroic, Amounis, Flight, Shannon, Wenona Girl and Might And Power.

In recent years Inglis graduates have again taken all before them on the tracks of Australia, such as Miss Finland, Samantha Miss, Alinghi, Fields Of Omagh, Weekend Hussler and Black Caviar.

Inglis graduates are also at the forefront of showcasing the Australian bred thoroughbred to the world, with home grown gallopers taking on the world overseas and winning, such as Choisir, Elvstroem, Takeover Target, Starspangledbanner, Sacred Kingdom, Silent Witness and Musir.

Thoroughbreds, male or female, sold at Inglis Yearling Sales continue to shape the breed. Champions sires Marscay, Rory’s Jester, Encosta de Lago, Flying Spur and Fastnet Rock were all offered for sale by Inglis, as was Champion filly Tracy’s Element, the subsequent dam Australian Racehorse of the Year Typhoon Tracy.
